Fair Photos

Here are a few pictures from our trip to the fair. Thank you Jamie for taking and sharing the photos! You can tell how much fun all the kids, K&A, Jaiden, Alena, and Sean, were having.

For some reason when we ask Kaylee where she got the froggy that Daddy won (ehh hmm.. bought) she will say she got it from the "tooth fairy." I am not sure where the confusion is coming from between the "fair" and the "tooth fairy." Guess that is just her being silly as usual. K&A both talk about how they did not like the one ride I had them get on that spins. They both say it was "too spinny and too fast." You can tell they enjoyed the train, worm, and car rides though.

23 Weeks Old!

Aiden seems to change so much every single week. He is now rolling all around to get to his toys. It doesn't matter if he has to roll over five times just to get to his purple octopus toy - he is up for the challenge! He is also very into talking these days and all kinds of sounds come bubbling out. We all get a big kick out of listening to him talk back to the girls. I think he knows he has talk loud to be heard over them! He took his first trip to the county fair this past weekend and he was such a good boy. I just knew he would be fussy since we disrupted his routine but he did surprisingly well. He has always been very dependent on long naps twice a day but I think he is slowly easing out of that pattern. He is becoming so nosy and doesn't want to miss a single thing. His hair continues to stick up higher and higher. I gave up on trying to smooth it down. I always did that with the girls chickie fuzz but then wanted it back as soon as it started to grow out. I like to give Aiden little mohawks and to rub my cheek against his hair. It brings back so many memories from the twins newborn days. Amazing how much he looks like them...especially Kaylee. The biggest compliment we (or should I say he) received this week was when his Grandfather said he sure was getting chubby thighs. I believe he called them "ham hocks" to be exact. Little did he know that he would make my day with that innocent comment. I mean could I ask for anything more? HeHe.

The other night I was laying in bed with Aiden going through our nightly bedtime ritual. I have to escape to our room and close the door because Aiden's bedtime happens to coincide with the girls loudest and craziest time of the day. I guess they are fully living up their last half an hour before bed time. Anyway, our bedtime ritual involves lots and lots of snuggling. I can't really express how much those quiet moments with just the two of us mean to me. It hit me the other night that these moments won't last forever. Just as the girls have grown up in a blink of an eye... so will Aiden. Sure, the girls still love to be held and cuddled at times...but it is all dependent on when they feel like slowing down for a second. Those thoughts led to many, many more cuddles and kisses for Aiden that particular night as well as a trip to the girls room to smother them in kisses before falling asleep.

Looking back, a part of me wishes I could have more of these special quiet moments with each of the girls as infants. Don't get me wrong - I loved the twins from the moment I became pregnant with them. But having newborn twins doesn't allow for many of those special mommy-baby moments...like snuggling your baby on your chest, playing with their little fingers and toes, listening to them breathe, or having the chance to rock them to sleep every night. I was able to do those things with the girls but never for very long. And, never without getting distracted by the other one crying or feeling guilty for paying more attention to one than the other.

It is just totally different having only one baby at a time. It is so much easier to manage and I am so glad I was able to have both experiences as a Mother. It isn't always easy by any means but it is well worth it all. I feel like Aiden has completed our family in so many ways but the best part has been watching the girls turn into big sisters. K&A are totally in love with having a baby brother and the fact that they are "big sisters." They are doing a pretty awesome job at it too!
Okay, enough of the sappiness (just can't help it sometimes). Here are a few more pics of the little man. I would share more of the girls but they haven't wanted to indulge Mommy and her camera lately. :-)

Weekend Recap

On Friday, Tony and I celebrated our 5th wedding anniversary! We went out for a very nice dinner at the Prime Street Grille in White Plains. We both had the Filet Mignon and choice of two sides and it was very good. The best part was the cheesecake dessert though!

It is hard to imagine that we have been married for 5 years already. That always seemed so far off when we were thinking ahead! Luckily, they have been 5 incredible years and we have been blessed beyond our wildest dreams as both a couple and as a family. I am proud of how far we have come together and can't wait to see what the next 5 years will bring. Actually, we are already planning our 10 year anniversary vacation. Better get ready for a very busy long weekend Mom!

Other weekend plans included a trip to the Charles County Fair with family friends. We were a bit apprehensive about taking Aiden out right during his morning nap but he did amazingly well. The girls had a wonderful time on the rides (and Mommy too!) with their friends Jaiden, Alena, and Sean and we enjoyed the great company of our wonderful friends. I have not been to the fair in many years but it hasn't changed a bit. It was just funny that we were now taking our children there instead of running around riding rides and playing games ourselves. Very different but lots of fun! Alyssa and I won her a cute monkey and Daddy cheated and bought Kaylee a HUGE frog. I was very impressed when I thought he had won that but it seems he took the easy way out and just asked the guy how much he wanted for the frog. Cheater! :-) There will be pictures to share very soon.

The rest of the weekend was very relaxing. I managed to take a nap with the kids all 3 days! Can't beat that. :-)

Here are some photos from the weekend:

Who is this baby?

We visited Grandma's house over the weekend and we settled Aiden in the exersaucer to play for a little bit. Riley was clearly not used to seeing anyone else playing in her toy so (after finishing some yummy pizza) she wandered over to check him out. She walked all around the circle and was trying to touch and grab him from time to time and then would look at us. As if to say....

Who does this baby think he is? :-)

PS - Please note the five perfect chub rolls on Riley's arm. Can you get any cuter?

21 Weeks Old!

This baby boy is an eating machine. It doesn't matter what you give him... he gobbles it up. We have luck with all the veggies and fruit we tried. I like to see how his face lights up when he tries a new flavor. Especially when Daddy gives him birthday cake icing. :-)

I haven't had much time this week to take new pictures so here are a few extras from last weekend. This week has felt super long. Why is that always the case with short weeks?

A Bad Word

Just the other week my nephew Brendon was asking the girls to say a "bad word." I was so proud when Kaylee looked at him and just repeated "bad word." He tried a few more times but my innocent little baby thought he just wanted her to repeat what he was saying.

Now, fast forward to this past weekend. I was in the kitchen cleaning and the girls were running through the house playing and fighting a little bit along the way. I overheard what I thought to be the word "a$$." I thought to myself that I must have been imagining things but something made me think to ask.

Me: "Alyssa what did you just say?"
Alyssa: No response
Me: "Alyssa what did you just say?"
Kaylee: "Mommy, she said she will kick my a$$."

I am not going to speculate or place blame on who may have taught them that word (eh hmm... can we say Grandma?) but it took a lot out of me not to laugh and not to make it a big deal. I calmly explained that we don't say that word. Hopefully they won't be repeating it anytime soon... especially at daycare.

Shake It Baby

The girls love to dance at home. They ask Daddy to put on either "Mommy music" (more slow) or "Daddy music" (faster and louder). Alyssa loves to dress up in her heels and dresses. She does very dramatic entrances into the room before she starts dancing. Kaylee does this funny little dance all the time. All we have to do is say "Shake it baby" and she will get up and start shaking her hips. I tried to capture it on video but she didn't "shake it" as much as normal. It is usually way more exaggerated!

Labor Day Weekend

The weekend didn't have the best start but it ended up turning out pretty nice. I already shared about our junk fest on Friday. :-) We also had cake on Saturday to celebrate Grandma's birthday and then headed to a cook out at Tony's cousin's house on Sunday. The kids had a great time. Here a few pictures we took through the day.

I think my little point and shoot camera has about had it. All my pictures are either a little or a lot blurry these days. Or maybe it is just the operator! Anyway... you get the idea!

It was a great long weekend. Can't wait for another!
