I may have started crying...but only for a second. I think she looks pretty cute!November 29, 2010
Kaylee's Big Haircut!
My baby got a haircut today...totally her idea. Guess she got tired of all of the knots and tangles!
I may have started crying...but only for a second. I think she looks pretty cute!

Normal Day
Normal day,
let me be aware of the treasure you are.
Let me learn from you,
love you,
bless you before you depart.
Let me not pass you by
in quest of some rare and perfect tomorrow.
Let me hold you while I may,
for it may not always be so.
One day I shall dig my nails into the earth,
or bury my face in the pillow,
or stretch myself taut,
or raise my hands to the sky and want,
more than all the world, your return.

The poem above is a reminder to appreciate each and every "normal" day that you have. Cherish the moments with those you love, call family that you don't talk to everyday, hug your children a little tighter, never end a conversation with hard feelings or go to bed angry. It only takes one second for your life to change, one phone call or a few brief words uttered to shatter the world as you once knew it. We sometimes go along thinking that it won't happen to us but there are truly no guarantees. And once it is gone, there is no going back.
Today, is the one year anniversary of my brother passing away. There will be sadness but the day will also serve as a reminder to appreciate the blessings that we have in our lives. To find happiness in the little things and to love every second we have with our families and friends. I know Rickey would want nothing more for us than that.
Miss you Rickey - today and always.

Happy Birthday Rickey!!
Happy Birthday Rickey!
We all got together at Kiki's tonight to celebrate your special day. We had all of the things you loved...Chinese food (Dad even got kung pao chicken just the way you liked it), Sprite, birthday cake, and the Happy Birthday song that Kiki plays over the loud speakers. Well, I guess you weren't always a fan of the happy birthday song but watching you turn red from embarrassment was always fun. :-)
I would love to say that it was a happy celebration but to be honest...it just wasn't. We had all of the pieces there to create a wonderful tradition but I just don't think we were quite ready this year. I hope that in future years we can see your birthday as a celebration... a day to celebrate your life and what you meant to all of us. A day to joke around and laugh as loudly as possible, just as you always loved to do. But today, all we really felt was incredible loss and sadness...and wishing so much that you could have been there.
I did manage to capture quite a few smiles though. Thank goodness for the kids! Hope you caught the balloons they sent up for you!
