A morning in the life of Daddy...

Every morning I talk to Tony about how the kids were as he got them ready for daycare. I usually hear a funny story or two but this morning really topped them all. I think he felt like he worked a full day before he even headed out the door!

Here is how he explained his morning:

I got everyone downstairs and went to change and feed Aiden. He was smiling really big and starting smiling even bigger as I was taking his pajamas off. I wasn't paying attention and he had done a huge poop that was oozing out of the sides of the diaper and up his back. I stuck my hand into something wet and knew right away what it was. I said "Ugh" really loud and that made the little brat smile even more.

Next, I went to get the girls dressed and they started fighting over clothes. Alyssa wanted to wear the yellow pants and pink shirt but Kaylee wanted to wear the whole pink outfit (they normally grab the clothes on each end and start yanking on them at this point). I eventually got them to agree and then let them play while I focused on Aiden again.

What I didn't know is that they had taken the money for Angela (a whole whole lot of $20 bills) and hid it all around their playroom. They hid money in places that I would have never even imagined. I asked them where they put the money and they said "don't remember."

Finally, we were out the door and the girls normally take turns with who sits next to Aiden in the car. It was Alyssa's turn so Kaylee fought over that. I got them all in and buckled up and Kaylee asked me to hand her the Etch A Sketch toy that was on the floor of the car. I handed it to her just in time for her to grab it and hit Alyssa in the head with it (guess she wanted to show her what she thought of the seating arrangement). Alyssa started crying right away and then when Kaylee realized she was in trouble she started crying and then finally a very startled Aiden started crying as well.

HaHa. I am sure that made for a very interesting ride to daycare. I know that I really shouldn't have laughed but I couldn't seem to help it. :-) At times like those you really feel like you might lose your mind. Luckily, they do something nice or cute a few minutes later or we might be tempted to give them away.

The joys of life with 2 two year olds and an infant. Can't beat it!

Just wait till you are 84...

That is my Grandma's favorite thing to say. We are certainly thankful that we were able to celebrate her 84th birthday and also hope we can be able to say that one day ourselves.

Love you Grammy!

The things they do for fun

K&A decided to use a whole package of left over Dora napkins to play games. Besides pretending to play hopscotch they thought this was pretty fun....

A Little Of Me...

As parents, we love to watch our children to see who they are most like. We know the girls look more like their Daddy, that Kaylee scrunches up her face just like Daddy, that Aiden has my features, etc. Tony also loves to blame the girls drama and tempers on me as well. I could argue but I know he is mostly right. :-)

I would have to say that I see a whole lot of myself in Alyssa. She may be full of drama at times but she is also incredibly sensitive, empathetic, and caring. I like to believe that those are qualities that she got from mommy. Alyssa is so in tune with the emotions going on around her. She hates to see anyone upset and loves to try to make everyone feel better whether that is with a hug or her "docker (doctor) kit." She even cried one day watching a funeral scene on tv. She really had no clue what a funeral was but she was easily able to pick up on the mood and emotions of the people involved. She senses feelings so easily and they affect her greatly. Some people may call that a weakness but I believe it to be a great strength. It will help her to build great friendships and other relationships. I am so happy to see these qualities in her... even when they translate to a lot of emotional ups and downs. :-)

Sibling Love

All my worry about how the girls would handle a baby brother was for nothing. The girls love him, especially Alyssa. She is like a little mommy... showing him toys, holding him, hugging/kissing him, and making him smile all the time.

Of course, he will be in trouble because he won't be able to escape all their girlie things. They like to surround him with Barbies and baby dolls and the other day they helped Grandma dress him in a tu-tu. I think he will have to learn to crawl pretty young just to escape them.

But for right now... I think he has a new best friend.
