The Butterfly
The Butterfly
The butterfly is a symbol of hope, the symbol of new life and the symbol of those who are bereaved. Before it becomes a butterfly, though, it must spend time in a cocoon.
We might be tempted to help release the butterfly from her cocoon. It is human nature to want to assist, but if we do, she will fall to the ground and die. By her struggle to free herself, she strengthens her wings enough to survive and fly.
Grief is certainly like this process. We feel ugly, we change, we hide, we sometimes spin a cocoon around ourselves. It takes a long time. There is a difference, however, others may help us as we struggle. We need not do it all alone as the butterfly does, but the ultimate responsibility is ours. We have to grieve, hurt, cry, be angry, and struggle to free ourselves from the cocoon of grieve. And one day we do emerge - a beautiful butterfly - a stronger person, a more compassionate person, a more understanding person.

Are these my daughters??
Do not ask me about the outfits... or the poses... or the dancing. I am pretty sure that they learned none of this from me. In fact, Tony often asks if they are really my daughters. If I didn't remember in vivid detail how god awful it was to carry them around during the hot summer months then I might just wonder that myself. :-)
I did think that placing the pretty feathery hat on Aiden was a nice touch though. Daddy? Not so much.

Silly Girls
I realize that I don't post nearly enough pictures of my girls. They are growing up so fast and I love to watch how they interact and the funny things they do and say. They really are the best of friends (with a little WWF action thrown in the mix here and there).
They asked me to take their pictures (Alyssa helped take a few) and put them on the "puter." They love to check out the blog to see their latest pictures.
Enjoy.

So You Think You Can Dance - Robles Style!
Here are a couple videos of the girls dancing last night. I think it is about time that we register them for dance classes. :-)
A few points I would like to stress before you watch:
1. We did not choose their outfits! The "bag lady" looks that they have going on were totally their own creations. We do tell them how beautiful they looked while trying to hide our looks of horror (uhh... I mean laughter).
2. They choose the music for their dances. Tony goes through every single music channel until they decide on the perfect song. There really is no rhyme or reason to what they choose but they do tend to like the songs that they label "Mommy Music." I am not sure how a song gets this particular label but whatever makes them happy, right?
3. We did not teach them any of their signature dance moves. They came up with all of their dances by themselves and are proud to show them off. All I can say is - thank God they have more rhythm than their Mommy.
Enjoy!!

Practice Makes Perfect
This year the girls received roller skates from Santa. Or, "beautiful pink princess skates" as the girls would say.

Let's just say that Santa must really have a sense of humor because watching these girls learn to skate has been a sight to behold. They have the long skinny legs that I had as a child and those legs go in every which direction as they struggle to keep their balance.
They can do pretty good on the carpet though. When they are not goofing off that is...
His Journey's Just Begun
Don't think of him as gone away
his journey's just begun
life holds so many facets
the earth is only one.
Just think of him as resting
from the sorrows and the tears
in a place of warmth and comfort
where there are no days or years.
Think how he must be wishing
that we could know today
how nothing but our sadness
can really pass away.
And think of him as living
in the hearts of those he touched...
for nothing loved is ever lost
and he was loved so much.
